About me

Hey, I’m Julie Feng. I’m passionate about product and business development as I believe they are core to creating sustainable and successful companies.

I feed this passion of mine by continuously looking for exciting projects, reading books/blogs about product launch and meeting founders in the EdTech/FinTech space.

I also try my best to mentor as many people as possible, to have a “snowball” effect so we can be the best versions of ourselves.

My Projects

ConsultPrep - Education startup I created to put students’ best foot forward.

  • Designed all course materials - a 50-page package - and optimized 5-week program to ensure their success

  • Rented office space to provide lessons; invited industry professionals to coach students; place students in student clubs

  • Taught critical skills (SQL, Market Sizing, Figma, Product Management) to prepare students for roles in consulting, business analysis and tech

  • Interviewed alumni for feedback and iterated throughout the 4 cohorts to improve curriculum

Impact

  • Gave 5 workshops across Canada to teach students how to maximize their academic journey

  • Placed 50+ students from 12 institutions in top consulting and tech firms

  • Invited to scale globally by MIT Enterprise Forum 2023

Reason behind ConsultPrep

  • I wanted students to feel more confident in the job market and encouraged them to participate in extra-curricular activities they enjoy so they can build their interpersonal and leadership skills

Nova and Neo: Discovering the World of AI - A children’s book I wrote about artificial intelligence

  • Developed and iterated a 16-page script to teach the concept of artificial intelligence to young kids

  • Acquired and licensed the script for publication purposes

  • Designed the structure and content for a children's book for a children’s book illustrator

  • Collaborate with children's book illustrator from the Philippines through 5+ versions

Reason behind this book

  • This book was entirely inspired by Professor Andrew Ng, co-founder of Coursera and adjunct professor at Stanford University

  • For three years now, I have taught over 300 students; writing this children’s book was a way for me to condense my passion for learning and teaching into a physical book

ImagineArt - My first Hackathon challenge

  • Led a team of 1 front-end and 2 back-end engineers to build a text-to-AI image generator

  • Scheduled all internal meetings to meet deadline and built a prompt database to feed the ML model

  • Learned Figma on the spot and designed all UI pages for engineers

  • Built presentation deck and presented on behalf of team to 4 judges from Cohere, broadcasted live on Twitch

  • Received 7th place out of 100 participating groups

Reason behind Hackathon

  • To develop my product management aptitude and leadership skills in a more technical team

Social Impact - Leading NGO projects, UI wireframes, and free workshops all across North America.

Developing a learning program for El Habitante

El Habitante is an Education NGO affiliated with Tiempo De Juego, a leading non-profit organization supporting 5,000 underserved kids in Colombia. Our goal was to develop a Spanish Learning Program for all of its incoming volunteers - a way to support El Habitante’s operations financially.

My role: guide the team to brainstorming and designing a profitable go-to-market solution for Tiempo de Juego

Pain points:

  • Understanding the market in a non-touristy city

  • Developing a sound and sustainable pricing strategy

  • Marketing to incoming volunteers

  • Improving internal operations

  • Creating marketing materials to publish on social medial platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)

  • Designing a comprehensive week-to-week program integrating daily activities to promote volunteers’ satisfaction
